Its residents continue to wage a war for power and the title of Defender of the Heart, not noticing signs of imminent death. The only one who can really save the Heart is the last character one could think of - the animated, clock fixer doll Goody, caught in the maelstrom of events when a fragment of the Heart is being hidden inside him by a resistance member. This fragment is wanted by the resistance leaders who see it as their last means to fight the Usurper of the City of the Great Heart. In their struggle for power, the Usurper and the Resistance turn out to be pawns in the hands of an even greater force - the Cult of the Heart and its leader, the Supreme, masterfully manipulating the enemies; and neither of the three sides really cares for Heart's well-being. All hope is on Goody and his loyal friends, who strive, no matter what, to save the Heart and return the pieces to it.
